Pretty decent little map actually, I'd rate this "nice". Worth checking out at least.

A perfectly competent map. It doesn't have any glaring flaws, but it doesn't particularly stand out either.

The architecture is always at least decent and at times around id quality, resembling Willits's episode 1 maps, especially after reaching the castle proper.

The gameplay is competent, but combat is a little bit on the easy side. I think some of the encounters hint that they were designed with keyboard play in mind (which is how I played FPS games before Half-Life), expecting people not to look around and fall into a pit with hungry fiends in it. To the modern WASD/mouse player those pits are apparent, and so the fiends can safely be killed from above.

A couple of other nitpicks would be the main elevator in the castle, which is kind of slow and unintentionally kills an ogre. The secrets have also kind of a flawed execution, with one secret accidentally having two secrets in it and one unofficial secret which definitely should be a secret in my book.

I think I'd rate this map somewhere between 3,25 and 3,5. Worth checking out, as kaffikopp wrote.

a very good castle/metal map with plenty of combat and many secrets to explore. I enjoyed playing this map and feel this is the author's best map so far. The architecture and shadowing is well done for a 1997 quake map and there was enough ammunition and health to combat against the enemies within the level. Overall a highly recommended map worth playing through and i would give a four out of five rating.
