Simply loved it. Even on easy skill, you've got to fight 175 enemies : grunt, three or four types of enforcer, centroids (robot scorpion from "Scourge of Armagon"), modified death knights...
Wow!
The final monster is really tough! I only managed to killed it after several tries when it got stuck behind a pillar, which gave me permanent cover from its various deadly projectiles.
On skill 3 this game is carnage, 5 star game, but carnage.
I love this. Simple, brutal, survivable but not easy. The very best of old-school Quake.
Only quibble: I just don't find Centroids fun. But that's easy to overlook.
