i was disappointed with 'the burial' ending, but quite fun otherwise.
There's no start.map, only vigil.map.
I'd classify this as an undiscovered gem. Very brutal , and strangely satisfying. Ammunition is well judged (on Hard, at least). And Hard is hard!
Mike, thanks for bumping this back onto the main page--I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. It's a really fun map with a unique concept. As you say, a hidden gem.
A good old map. Interesting plot indeed. Not bad for a 1997 level :)
Best map from this level designer with engaging arena like gameplay, new artwork and a unique short story. Would highly recommend downloading this short quake mod as it is unique and well built for its time. I would give this mod a four out of five rating.
Quite a nice little arena map with fairly pretty architecture. Nice narrative touches also at the beginning and the end and the little humour sprinkled here and there.
The action can get quite tight, even if there is a good amount of space to maneuver around. I played on both hard and nightmare and there were situations my health was getting quite low, so it's no slouch. The two side areas were welcome additions, where it was possible to catch a breath and resupply.
At times it's possible to cheese snipe non-aggroed enemies from afar, which is something that could have been addressed. All in all, I'd say it's quite a nicely balanced package. 4/5
