This multi-tiered level provides for some serious speed. Each area has multiple routes be it stairs, teleporters, or ladders, so your enemies keep coming at you from every direction. The size of the level also helps keep you guessing since enemies can drop on you from above as well.
Designed to be an abandoned storage facility you will see plenty of empty crates lying around but that seems to be the only thing resembling the chosen theme. It might have been nice to see some sort of conveyor system or maybe some damaged machinery that was used to transport cargo. Of course, the author does state that this facility was abandoned and cleaned out. I also noticed that the ladders, not commonly used in Quake, worked a little to fast. Each time I went up one I was at the top with exceptional speed and this was a tad distracting.
Small complaints aside, PH8DM2 is primed for action with its exemplary use of 3D design, balanced weapon placement, and solid gameplay. The level design also provides some nice architecture to witness but keeps it minimized not to take away from the fight. Overall, this level earns it right to be placed among your deathmatch archive.
