Here we have a medium sized blue map, but not using standard blue textures. Fingers created an excellent new texture set which is some of the most beautiful textures I have ever seen. The great textures alone make this map worth the download. Fortunately, Fingers made a good map to show off his textures. This map carries on from ikspq1, I suggest playing that first so you can get the appropriate weapons and ammo.

Architecture is quite good. The general feel of the map is somewhat claustrophobic hallways, with large multilevel rooms in between. The halls look good, with nice light blue trim, dark blue walls and ceiling arches. The large rooms look good as well, with detailed pillars, and more and larger curves. Besides the great looking entrance, there is no standout area, everything just looks good.

Design is simple, yet effective. There is a main, cramped hub, with four hallways that open once you get a key, push a button and such. Then after you complete one task, you go through the hub to go to the next objective. Most larger rooms have two levels, but it still feels like a fairly 2D level.

Game play is fun, with multiples of enemies thrown at you at once, which proves exciting considering there is a lot of cramped spaces. It’s not that hard, but you can’t let your guard down. Knights, scrags and ogres are your most common foe, but for a medium sized level, there is a large population of shamblers, 6 on hard. Assuming you carried over ammo from iksp1, ammo and health will be fine. But if you didn’t, it’s going to be tough. The end is pretty good, using shamblers, fiends and vores.

With such wonderful new textures, there is no reason to miss this map.
