The Quickening is D13HRDs first official attempt at Quake 2 deathmatch making and what a great first attempt. The atmosphere has a real eerie feeling to it brought forth by the dark block textures, new wind sounds, the addition of thunder in the background, and the Snow2 environment by Stecki.

The design is top notch with every path connecting making its navigation simple. D13H4RD has also added an interesting little trap to help keep players from camping to long around the Quad damage. The addition of the quick jump pad is a great touch that really adds to the gameplay.

Item placement was done very well with the mega-health in a spot that could get the player stuck and the Quad damage set up high in a hard to reach area. All of the weapons, except the BFG 10k and Chaingun, make an appearance and work very well with the level.

Overall, this is a fantastic map and well worth the download time. A must have addition.
