Quess places you in a three dimensional chess board where your chess figures are replaced by Quake minions. There are 3 different stages to choose from and it can be played online or it can switch between two players for off line play.

Here is the minion to chess figure listing :

• pawn = knight
• rook = ogre
• knight = demon
• bishop = hell knight
• queen =shambler
• king = zombie (wears a crown)

This is one fun mod. Each .bsp is an interesting styled chess board that really fits the Quake theme. Monster have been re-skinned to distinguish teams provide for some really cool fight scenes. There is also new sounds in Quess that tell you what figure you are selecting and the Quake minions have added speech as well. Nicely done.

You are able to move the camera to allow better views as well. This is a nice touch but the controls act a little buggy. Sometimes you will find yourself within a wall.

Overall, this is a great conversion that will provide tons o’ fun. Even my wife, who hates Quake, enjoyed Quess. So if your a chess fan then this mod is what you’ve been waiting for. Download away.
