NBK[Mix]
We try and get to the real story of the collapse of TFcon 98.....NBK[Mix] reveals more details here.
The PF Staff

I wanted to try and get some more facts about what happened at the TF convention. So I contacted NBK[Mix] (President of one of the clans that helped take it over) and hastily threw a interview together. We learn some more interesting facts about this convention...and the future of others......

HURT
First off... tell me about yourself.. age.... hometown... education..... etc.

HURT
I knew there was going to be a TF-convention, but since there was no way I could make it I didn't follow too closely. Can you tell me what the original arrangements we're supposed to be?..Including cost and such. What was announced as to what would be happening?
Mix
I have a list of what was supposed to be here, I will send it to you soon.

HURT
When did you realize something was wrong?
Mix
When we went to the building the event was supposed to be in and security laughed at us.

HURT
How many people showed up at the downtown location?
Mix
Numbers are unknown at this time, many were turned away.

HURT
Can you tell me the steps that was taken to make the best of the situation?
Mix
Clan Null made BowDown get a room, and then we used the NBK server to run the event along with our computers. We also hosted the TFS team, in which I will be going to a movie with tonight. IAN YOU CRAZY AUSSIE YOU!!! =).

HURT
What could have been done to prevent this?
Mix
Nothing, no one knew, anyone could do this to unsuspecting players, the fact is, before you commit to something do the necessary background work.

HURT
When TFS arrived... what was they're initial reaction?
Mix
You don't want to know, basically DISAPPOINTMENT, although they had an idea it would be a bit messy if not a bust.

HURT
How many total participants made it to the new location?
Mix
Just a handful, all that are listed on the website were there. The only ones not mentioned yet were the Clan 138 fellas, I simply am still to busy to add them, they will be posted if I don't forget 100%, I have a NetUp to attend this weekend, ironic eh? =).

HURT:
I see that there is already talk of another event in 6-8 months, what steps are being taken to ensure that it will go off better than this one?
Mix
First step is that we are adults, we do know how to organize an event. There will not be an event if it cannot be done right. Also there will be a large team pre-assembled to take on all tasks from the network to event security. For now it is talk, when we get everything set in stone, we will let everyone know.

HURT
Is there a possibility that it will be held elswhere than in Kansas?
Mix
TFPCON will be regional. Meaning, that the south will have theirs, the Midwest will have theirs, North, West, East and so forth will all have their very own TFPCON annually. We have to get our feet wet first with Wichita, if it is possible at all, then we want to take it to Texas, or vice versa. After that the skies the limit depending on who wants to jump on our bandwagon.

HURT
Any final thoughts?
Mix
Because of my lack of sleep, I really will have a hard time with this. My final thought is simple, watch what you get yourself into. If I would have known this as a 14 year old kid, I would have never have come to Tulsa for this event. Alot of folks don't know it but a family friend of BowDowns, named Darrell, or Daryl, I forget the correct spelling of his name, paid for the TFS team to get to Tulsa and back to Seattle. He can never get his money back, if done right, he would have had it back and more. The experience overall was the most overwhelming experience of my life, it brung alot of people into my life, quite possibly changing it forever. Clan Null, EQP, John from Clan Megadeath, and the TFS team as well as everyone else were great and will forever hold a place in my heart and life. I feel like I have made new friends for a lifetime. Possibly that is the only good besides the creation of TFPCON that has come out of all of this botched event. We want to do it right, and we are hell bent on doing it, with or without big sponsors. We know we need sponsors, but if we build it, we feel they will come. It's about time we did something a little more organized.
