I agree with the Hal's editorial...

I busted some moron (named UNNAMED of course) yesterday typing in aim -n or something to that effect and immediately launced on his cheater ass. Of couse he denied it all (even with a statement showing what he had typed, plus showing his emodel was like 2035 or some other outlandish cheater number). But what kills me is that only one other person on the server would back me up and say how lame that llama was. Everyone else said to ignore him or some other cowardly thing...I was screaming for an admin or rcon to ban him but once again I feel nothing would have happened even if someone had the power to kick or ban. Many times I have busted cheaters and people with rcon do nothing. How about fixing TF so that people with emodels other than 6967 aren't allowed to connect? I know that there are differing pmodels (which again is a load of crap to me...I have all the new models and my pmodel and emodel are the normal values), and people with their cheeseball CHEAPO *legal* proxy will bitch like a bunch of llama's (side note...I asked someone who was using the CHEAPO proxy (it says cheapo in their /user info and doesn't show their pmodel or emodel) and they said it takes away flare glowing, lights things up, improves FPS, and other cheater crap...in my opinion that is cheating also (post that info and see what reaction you get...all the llama snipers out there will be argueing otherwise).

Enough of my rant...just wanted you to know that people don't give a crap about cheaters in TF...9 times out of 10 I'm the bad guy for busting someone and calling them what they really are...no talent losers.

I have just read the article The Hal had posted in editorials, and I could do nothing but agree with his thoughts. I have played Team Fortress mod for about 8 months, before I had played DM type maps, then learned of TF. After playing TF for a while I figured out it was a team game, therefore I had to learn respect and sportsmanship, comming from DM, it was nothing but a one for all type attitude. Day in and day out I would get my A$$ kicked from one side to the other, but I held in there and did nothing but practiced. I can hang with most lpb soldiers. The whole lpb thing is so over rated its pitiful. Hey fess up the only reason most of cheaters out there do what you do is, because your jealous. Jealous of the fact that you dont have the connection lpb's have and the fact that you cant keep up with the lpb's. Trust me LPB's can be dealt with in another way besides cheating, its called practice.

I have been accused of cheating , because I have a habit of shooting into dark areas, so therefore I use a glow pack. Hell I dont even know what a glow pack is, never seen one. I call it practice and knowledge, "hmmm, there might be someone in that dark corner , FIRE."

This is just my opinion of the cheaters and has probably been heard many times, but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in, since I am a HPB, and will be going LPB very soon.

I think its sad all you guys in there hate some cheaters SO much - Im in a little clan there cheat sometimes in practices for the fun and exploring....If one cheat like this : He/Her Makes a sentry there is cheated/experimented with we others have SO much fun trying to kill it....But when we go into servers all calling us "F*CKING CHEATERS!" and that is not fun even when we trying to explain them that we just trying to have fun....but they just dont listen...and that makes the game more suck.. i were inside a good server (Cant remember the name) a time....there i cheated by building a standless-sentry and all calling me cheater....but instead of the others they listened....and that was fun for us all cuz we got a great game working,even though i didnt use the cheats very much.......now i just dont hope that they are going around and using those cheats to anoy anyone........But try talking with the cheaters / experimenters before you trying to KKnD them in TF...Cheaters Arent that evil or annyoing...its them there annoy them so much that the cheaters begin to make the game suck....

I like many other people bought HL because I was told TF2 will be an addon for HL you will require HL to play. How about charging people who own halflife just an addon price instead of a full new game price.

recently you announced a map called "Freeway" that was based off of an old Duke 3D map. Well I grabbed it and loved it, then I managed to convince the admin of 206.53.116.83:27500 to put it in the rotation. Well.. here's my take on it, and I hope it gets sent to the headline page, because I believe this reflects the opinions of those 100,000 players out there who are Team Fortress players right now. I went out and spent a good deal of money on Quake2, thinking that it was going to be the game that Team Fortress was created on later. Then, shortly after doing so, I hear that it is not. Quake2, by itself was a "decent" game, but I feel I have been misled by not being given the "change of plans" by ID and TFS until after I spent my money on it.

Later, I hear TF2 will be an add-on to the game Half-life. I see some screenshots put out by Valve and TFS, and I go purchase Half-Life thinking for sure that this will be the game that TF2 will be created on. Then, I again hear that it will have no relation to TF2, and I have wasted my money on another "decent" game. Thank you TFS and Valve.

I was fully ready and even eager to spend my money on TF2, but TFS has now repeatedly cheated me out of what I have been trying to pay them for, so I feel no compelling reason to pay them anymore. Good luck in your future endeavours TFS. I hope you put out a great product and make a million dollars. I do, however think your business practices are unethical and probably illegal, and I will no longer support you. Just my two cents. -speak J [KiN]

What about the terrible trouble they had with Quake2 multi player by releasing that too soon? What about the fact that id wanted mega bucks for licensing the Quake engine? What about the fact that if you are dissatisfied with Half Life for any reason, you can turn it in for a refund? What about the possibility of a rebate or discount for HL owners? What about the fact that the game called TF2 evolved into something that the HL engine simply could not provide on its own? That is my 99 cent opinion, I don't come cheap.)

Would you please post something about lame people that only worry about frags and not gameplay, especially the ones that they only way that they can get some kills is sneaking into the sniper lauft (witch doesn't take much talent) and going after snipers that are trying to snipe. I think that goes in the same catagory as people that pipebomb the respawn points. This is just my opinion but I think that's what I would call cheating. I'm mainly talking about the 2fort5's and the 2fort4's. I would appreciate it you said something about this becuase it reallly chaps my ass.

(Editors note: This is a tough subject. A lot of players don't seem to think camping in the enemy sniper loft is cheap or lame. I don't do it myself. I defend in clan play but do offense quite a bit in public play. I may sweep the sniper loft, but I don't hang around as a rule. I would not call it cheating myself. )

Well, I'm sure that someone has reported this, but I thought I'd write up a complaint.

We have purchased Half-Life because we were getting ready for TF2. We purchased Qauke2 when we thought TF2 was for Q2. The money grubbing thugs at Sierra have screwed us into buying Half-Life and now are going to make us pay again for a full game called TF2. This it total bull.

I'd like to get "signatures" from all the TF players out there who paid their $50 (or so) for Half-Life just because TF2 was being written for it. We should tell Sierra and Valve just what we think about this. I'd like everyone to forward me your "signature" (e-mail addy and name) so we can send a list to Valve.

With the recent announcement, that TF2 will now be a stand alone product. So what?, I for one, do not care at all. I have played Tf (and still do to this day), and am actually happy to hear this. People that bought Half Life just for TF2, well I don't see why you are not happy with Half Life its self, I mean fXcking a, TF2 still uses the Half Life engine, the only difference will be improvements to the engine. Just sell your Half Life if your so upset and feel cheated.

But really, everyone that complains about it will end up buying TF2 whenever it comes out, you know it to. I will, and so will alot of other people, a few of you not buying it isn't going to matter much.

There has to be some way of getting rid of those people ruining games. ie. Standing in door of respawn, dismantling sentries. in border1 , killing the people they are helping. It would be really good if someone came out with a script or something that if 95% of the everyone playing thought this guy should leave , he would be kicked off automatically. Mabye there is a way. Thanx

About the TF2 now being it's own game.... I think that it is great. I like Half-Life a ton, but I didn't buy it just for TF2. I play TF a bunch... but this shouldn't effect much. It'll take up less space... cuase now you can delete Half-Life when your done with it, and just have TF2 on your hard drive to play it, instead of having a 400 mb game with a 50+ add-on just to play TF2. Good job Sierra, and it's a very good marketing strategy for one thing.

I dont know if this subject is dead or not but if you wanna do it its ok with me. Ill take any frags i can get. Most of the time(most good clans included) its damn near impossible to get to our respawn much less camp it because our defense r0x0rs. But if you do make it you will be a hunted dog for the rest of the match dying even if i have to hunt you in your own fortress...heh heh...seriously im of a mind with Scat, If you can take a part of the enemy base and hold it its just one place your offense doesnt have to fight to get in. Now the respawn is kinda hard to get into .....some one had to LET you in . Now if i need to kill someone and find my health low i dont open my respawn door to let them in. I fight til i die then come out full. I can understand that its a whole lot of dishonor to RC but hell there are ways to aavoid it and it will cost any enemy to try it. just a comment
