We need to unite now and do something about the corrupt government which will eventually destroy the people of the United States of America. The few have been putting themselves of the masses since the beginning of time and have been trying to keep themselves in their lofty positions. Elections today aren't based on actual amounts of people who vote for their representatives but other representatives who have only their best interests in mind. This can be comparable to the system which Louis IVX had with his nobles, they relied on his power to grow their own, this hierarchal system goes all the way up to the highest office of the land. The president is elected based on the electoral college system and it actually doesn't matter if one citizen votes for him because the electoral college doesn't necessarily have to vote for the candidate with the highest percentage of votes in a voting area. Another part of politics which is corrupting our country is political parties, they completely ruin what Democracy is supposed to be about. We have to majorities who don't care about what happens to people and only elevating themselves, this is not what the forefathers of america would have wanted to see. Our government is becoming greedy. Another thing that is wrong is how much money you need to achieve a post where anything can be achieved, just to run for congressman you need hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars. And the only way to get that type of money if you aren't rich is to ally yourself with one of the political parties who will then bend you to their will and completely destroy any possibility of change. We need to prevent money from being a factor and make it so that the only way a candidate can get any press is in political debates or something similar. Political parities must be abolished, the election system must be radically changed and most importantly terms must be shortened to one year.

I think you only need 50,000 write ins to make me an official candidate. I can hear it now, Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce our new Prez... The Hal! Has a ring to it. Hi, I was talking with GreenBeard from TorchMonkey and he had this map called "TurkeyBurgers" which is his "Map of the Moment" but he doesn't know where I can get it (he dlded it off a public server he was on)... It looks to be a lot of fun and is extremely similar in design to a certain DM level for Sin where all the players are the size of mice in an average study...

If anyone can mail me the URL where I can find this map I would appreciate it... I have already tried several Map sites including Totality and The Collective as well as Fileplanet but still no luck in trying to track this one down. hrm, i get really sad when i see the number of tf servers becoming empty and i wanna know why? is tf out of its time now? i missed something... I got TFC and quite frankly, i dislike it. Well i dont really dislike it but i think TF1 is a hell of a lot better, for tf1 anyone has to have skill to play *yes even the lpb snipers* TFC its like you need a p300 xeon and like fort knocks of ram. The point that i'm trying to make is "whats the big fuss" tfc is a great game but it is sooo geared towards those t1, dsl, cable owners. Its kinda like quake3 hpb netcode, no matter how good of an hpb you are, someone comes in there with sub-100 ping and your toasted no matter what. I have given up on tfc so far and even though when i get a upgrade i probably will still play the better tf1 because i think tf1 is the best damn game on the planet. I really wish the people would go back to tf1 and see the beauty in it which spawned tfc. I wish everything would be like back in the day where there were literally thousands of tf servers all full with joyful tf1 players...

(Editors note: TF1 is not dead. There are many who still run servers and play it. The TFC community may be bigger and more active right now, but a lot of that is from the Half-Life players. They are improving the network code all the time for TFC too. It is getting better for all speed connections. I'm not sure I ever saw thousands of TF servers running. There were a bunch though. There's really nothing you can say to a die hard TF lover to console him. Just keep in mind that the same guys who brought you TF are working on TF2. You should be happy for them.)

In the last 5 minutes it hit me, what are the maps gonna be like in TF2? I've never heard anything about what the maps are going to be like. Is there gonna be another 2Fort? Since TF2 is much more...deep in gameplay that it seems a 2Fort would be short changing people with such a dinky little map (no offense to map makers). But a new version of 2Fort would kick ass! Something on a much larger scale but still has the same basic theme, steal their flag defend yours. That brings me to another thing, what will the levels be like? Will they be CTF and Hunted? Of course I've seen some examples with the paratroppers coming in and so on but I'm wondering what that level is like in the new batch of screen shots as well as for all the other levels. Well this is more a question for Valve really, but a good one at that. Thx

I seem to be having trouble accessing PF right now, but never fear, if I have to go buy a whole new computer, I will. You shouldn't smoke! That is a no no! I can proudly say that I am smoke free (otherwise my parents would choke me!) There are so many other things that you could do instead, like... well I am just a horny 15 year old (16 Nov. 12th!) that just got a new car. =) The back seat opens to the trunk too!

What is this? Is this some modification for clan battles, or a discarded option? I've looked over some decent comprehensive server guides, but I can't find anything covering this. Any recommendations or information?

(Editors note: That is what gets displayed if your base is infiltrated and the enemy has their way with you in your control room. I am not a CZ player really, but I believe only demos can destroy your control room. If that is wrong, then it can easily be explained by the fact that I don't know what I am talking about the majority of the time. And under those circumstances, I make something up so it sounds like I know a lot about everything, when in fact, I know little about a lot of things. Get my drift?)

well thats just my opinion, look at sites like pq and phl, they are the most popular as they host a massive range of different sites, some are better then others, some are just different, but you get a massive archive of knowledge in one place.

I know because TFC doesnt have any mods means u miss out on a massive potential part of the site, but theres still many other areas you can cover. For one thing maybe you should assign TPF members to search out for new freash upcoming sites, which you can help to upgrade which will bring them up the standerd that you will be allowed to host them. Also noticed sometimes you post news about new sites, which **you** should be hosting or helping to improve.

Ive talked with many TFC peeps as well and it also appears you dont catare to well to the world of TFC, I admit some of the TF sites are helpful, but everyone admits TF and TFC are 2 very different communites. You remember Expert TFC? You did a news post on it a while back, well that has to be one of the best TFC tactics page ive ever read, it does relie on some info from scarce or nonupdated sites but who cares? It delivers the goods and is full of content. As many of the TF sites seem boring, totally unrelated to TF at times, and rarely updated...

Anyway about the new redesign, i think it would be ok, im not to sure making it the same style as all other gamespy sites, but as long as u dont put a seperate page for hosting it should be ok as the new phl although i miss the old design, is quite resourceful of its space and content. A new fresh colorful design would be ok...

Also what about other versions of team fortress? They may be unnoficial but they are still fun, im talking about TF mods, and Heretic Fortress [which looks rather impressive], and the possible Thug Fortres [not sure about that one, wait till beta to see if its any good]. But you get my idea, try to assimalte everything teamfortress related

(Editors note: Why are you trying to confuse me? I can only focus on one thing at a time and you brought up many points. This could be a mailBag all by its self! The good thing is, you answered many of your own questions. We do host a variety of sites, but there is no sense in duplicating content just to have more sites. Also, it would make no sense to host mini PF like sites either, as they would just duplicate what we are doing. On the hosting of TF like mods issue, we decided a long tome ago to respect the wishes of TFS, and not support any mods that were not authorized. And none were, so there you have it.)

I'm just wondering where a file came from. I just found QCSG.EXE in my TFC/Maps folder. I do not have worldcraft, or any other map editor for that matter, installed on my computer. So I'm wondering if it could've came out of a map's zip file or is it normally there?

I think your sister is a closet map maker. She is afraid to tell you that she has been sneeking onto your computer and talking to your buddies, who all think you are now gay because she goes ga ga over them. She has made a TF map modled after a womans dressing room, and it has become the most popular map ever. All the gusy rush into the one room and see naked chicks in the mirror. And that happens to be exactly where she put the respawn pad, so all the guys get tellefragged constantly, but they don't care. She wins all the games. Oh, maybe that is a Doom map or something........)

First off, it's HPL, not HPB. Why would you call someone with high ping a bastard? You call him a loser. Because he generally loses, not necessarily because of skill, but he often loses. You call LPB's bastards because they splatter you on the wall.

Now to the real letter.

Even if most of the weapons are hitscan and locational damage, that doesn't mean that it will be realistic damage. I remember one specific Valve interview where they said that "playability is more important than reality" in TF2 (or something to that effect). In TF2, there will be no rocket jumping, as I remember the soldier will have to kneel to fire the rocket launcher. But will that really be needed when the play style is so different? I mean what good is the ability to get onto a roof if there are no roofs in some of the TF2 maps? And maybe there will be something like conc jumping. Maybe the soldier can launch teammates by firing a rocket at their feet. And what reason do you have to believe that TF2 will have so many more hitscan weapons than TF/TFC? I mean most of the classes for TF2 are rips or combos of TF/TFC classes. I think this misconception comes from the change in the style of the maps. The maps of TF2 are clearly designed to simulate real war. That doesn't mean that the weapons have to simulate real war. There will still be the grenade launcher, there will still be the rocket launcher....maybe weapons replacing the nailguns will be hitscan, but that's about it.

But as Hal said (I think it was Hal editing this anyway) "There are to many variables to get your ass in an uproar right now"

looking at all the potd you guys have i noticed that there are new cross hairs and costume colors. than again i could be wrong. does this mean there is an update for tfc?

(Editors note: It could mean anthing around here. The Snipers are a peculiar bunch of fellows. They need all these pretty crosshairs, all colourfull and miltifaceted. Actually anyone can use them, but thay are mainly to keep the snipers distracted while the rest of the world plots against them. You can grab most of those things over at the TF File Factory. Give Koron a buzz and he should be able to set you up!)

I'm not going to give any opinions about the pros and cons of mercenaries.clanners, camping, spamming (even though I'm in a clan myself, and will do the occasional camp and spam), but.........here's how I see it:

<windbag> I shelled out the $39.95 + tax when I bought the Half Life CD (and the other FPS games I own), and used my time while my slow connection downloaded the updates, and then spent even more time tweaking my configs to get the best gameplay. My point is, if I am going to put forth the time, money, and effort to play HL or TFC(or ) online, then I am not going to let some llama tell me HOW I can play the game. If I want to spam the enemy respawn, I will.....if I want to be the lowest scoring member of the team, I will. I don't recall a set of rules bundled with the manual that says I have to behave a certain way when I play.

Don't get me wrong, courtesy is an important part of playing, but if I have a certain style of playing, then no one should say "Thats wrong!" It's simple, really...... If its not a bot or any other kind of cheat, then it's legal. Camping or spamming maybe distastefull to many people, but it is a strategy.

If you want to be a lone-wolf type Merc, or join a clan, then it's up to you. Both styles have their good points. It all depends on the individual. When you nail someone, or cap the enemy flag, keep bad comments out of the game. If you get fragged, or the enemy caps the flag, smile and throw out a compliment.

I play for fun........and I wish more people would, too.

You have decided to play the game any way you please, and to hell with what everyone else wants. And that is exactly why the game is not fun for those who happen to want to play it the way it was intended. I don't want to get in a big argument here. I know camping is a strategy, as is spamming. But the only ones who like it or accept it, are the ones who do it. I don't care how much anyone pays for a game, they should play it the way it was intended and not feel they can do whatever they feel like doing. Courtesy is part of it, and so is honor and sportsmanship.... You don't hunt deer with a sub machine gun do you?)
