(Slick: It's called the "earth" font, you can grab it on this wonderfull page of fonty goodness here. )

MIRV
by Jesse Brimingham
I just read Ghob's editorial on the MIRV reduction of HW guys, and I think he is wrong on several points. First of all, that HW guys are a weak class. Any class I can score 60+ in is good. (pop me in a full server running maps converted from HL [those four team death matches] and let me get on the smallest team, I'll get 60+ w/ the HW Guy) Second that the Soldier is a god class. I have killed soldiers as all classes, after you spend a game soldier hunting as a scout with only your crowbar and get more kills than deaths, it kind of disproves that theory. Also he mentioned that the Sniper and Pyro are weak. Ghob, you should meet some people. Kain and probably me. Kain is the best sniper I have ever seen. He score over 40 in Rock2 without running the key. And a good pyro is used for support. A pyro is not there to get kills, you're supposed to weaken approaching enemies and kill them if you can. Also the Pyro's rockets have a huge blast radius, you can wreak havoc on whole rooms with them. Not to mention that their explosives go through walls. Now, I'm not in a clan, but I play TFC a lot. I've seen spam, and I can understand their limiting of the grenades, but that really doesn't affect my playing style. I use my gun and if I know I'm gonna die I'll chuck A (one) MIRV. I do that with every class, if I know I'm gonna die, I chuck out one of the grenades. And btw: not only is Sniping an easy way to get kills (if you're good), it's also fun. Nothing more enjoyable than watching people cuss ineffectually at you trying to goad you into telling them where you're sitting.

(Slick: Everyone can argue that this class is weak, or that class is better, and they will. The HW is designed to allow a newbie to have a class that he gets the idea of what needs to be done; you get a big gun and shoot without worrying about getting hurt to fast. An experienced player can really take advantage of this class if he puts in the time. Soldiers are strong, there is no doubt about it. What really matters is the people playing the class; if they are good, you'll have a hard time killing them. If they suck, they'll go down easy. It's not like a newbie playing a certain class will instantly become unstopable. I think that your are missing the point of knowing that someone who gets so many points is automatically good. This is a personal pet peve of mine, esspecialy when in QTF when people would say "I'm always in the top 4, so that means I'm great!" Sorry, but what I looked for when I was a clan leader in good players, was, "Who is playing defence and where; ok, now is anyone getting past them?" (And so on for offence) I never looked at frags. I feel kinda bad for using your mail as a way to vent a couple of my thoughts, as you have some good ones too. This discussion about spam will always be around. )

Skins for TF2
by Johnny MC
Dear Planetfortress, I think TF2 will be the only title that I'm eager to get my hands on this year. I started playing 3D shooters beginning with Wolfenstein, Doom 1& 2 and slowly progressing through the others during the ages. TF2 looks to offer something I've wanted for a long time, modern-day warfare... not in some space station using a plasma cannon hunting down zombie-mutants. I want to be outside, open ground with organic surroundings using natural geological formations as cover. Don't get me wrong I'll dig urban combat, fighting in city streets and clearing homes. I just hope you don't make TF2 too lop-sided, meaning don't just provide US military skins. Nearly all the nations' uniforms are very similar but there are little differences and I'd love to see teams using Israeli, British and Russian uniforms. The same goes for weapons and equipment but that's little less important than the variations in skins. Options, that's what I want to see and plenty of them. Good luck and keep up the solid work.

(Slick: Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but you sound as if you feel that we are the authors for TF2. Valve Software are the guys making the magic. We are just a bunch of freaks who like to talk about it. And like you, are drooling all over it! For a comment on the skins, I'm sure we'll have the ability to make our own skins for TF2. )

Bots for TFC
by CyberSon
First off I would like to compliment you guys an an awesome web page that I can see takes a lot of work, although I do miss original quotes as much as I do worship the emporer its getting old, Now to get to my point: I love playing multiplayer TFC its all I know how to do, but thats only at one of my homes on my cable connection on the other hand my house with a shitty 56k makes the game not as good and i was wondering if there were any TFC bots out there or if we could get some one with bot making skills to take a try. I am sure that when most of the people with crappy connections and 600+ ping saw it they would try it out. And also is there any word on a planetfortress2 web site? because the other TF2 sites are great but not quite organized. And lastly please email me back with any information on the TFC bots thx for your time and have a good day or night which ever it may be

(Slick: Bots for TFC: Valve would have to release the TFC source code for this to happen (which is very unlikely). PlanetFortress2?: Bah! We are the planet of everything fortress!. )

Hey Now
by TheGlow
Is it just me, or did my occasional packetloss average of one per 5 games got up to 20 per game since the patch? All my friends agree. Whatd they do to it? bad enough I have a 56k, but now this? Damn! and now I cant snipe damn demomen crossin the bridge cuz they spazz out, disappear, then appear on the otherside. Id almost swear they were taking advantage of ploss !

(Slick: Well, Valve didn't make any changes in the last patch to the netcode, so that's not the source of your problems. Check your latency and push rate settings to make sure you've got the optimal settings. Jim Cable who ran the Grassy Knoll has the best configs to check out for anything, and esspecially latency settings.. )

I know I know
by Kim
I know you guys keep getting asked this question..but when will tf2 be out in stores? and... how big does those cpu got to be...is it really 233mhz????!

(Slick: Ahh, the question of ages, "When will TF2 be out?" Release Date: Currently there is none. Online pre-order suppliers, stores, all are really good at making them up. Even Sierra has made a statment that needed correction on TF2's homepage. But until Valve knows, then decides to let others know, they are all rumors. And we will know far in advance of the release date, and will post anything as soon as we get it. And I'll go pysco and shout it from the rooftops! )

About the Tank
by AndyT
I was wondering if you will be able to drive more then the tank in the game because that would be kind of boring.I would like to be able to drive a Bradley tank or something of that nature.

(Slick: In TF2 there will be no ability to drive tanks copters or anything of the like; as Valve has decided to focus their efforts on the other aspects of TF2. While it would be nice, I'm ok with not having a racing simulator.. Hmm wait a tick, that would be kickass, what am I talking about?!? That'll be a cool mod if someone gets into it! )

Heya
by DavidR
i think the site rocks,i was wondering if the site will have a new layout or something because the black layout is just giving me a headache and it hurts lol oh and just a thought will there ever be like map of the day or something different from pic of the day ..................oh and i'm up to 8 asprin a day please change th backgroung quick ohhhhhhhh

(Slick: Well, first I'm going to do something about the POTD, Zorak needs a good thrashing to get in gear. Future plans that I can talk about are: Level of the Week, Survival Pack (You won't believe this one when you see it), the TF Tech will be getting back in the swing. And a couple others that are sucking away my time from the poll, it'll be commander keen! As for a redesign, we really haven't gotten into to much with that, it is planned, but details are still up in the air. )
