Team Fortress Classic Configs: Communication

Communication

Communication is key to help your team win in TFC. You want to use a communication system that is easy to remember and can be used in most maps. Hopefully after you finish reading this guide you will have enough confidence to edit the map configs and create custom communication binds for maps of your choice.

I like to use the F1 - F11 keys for basic communications. To communicate with teammates you have to use the "say_team" command. If you want to bind a key to talk to everyone on the server you have to you the 'say' command.

bind a "say How are you guys doing?"
bind f3 "say_team Flag is safe"

When you hit F3, you will let your teammates know "Flag is safe". Here is a general list of team calls you should incorporate:

bind f1 "say_team CANCEL last post!"
bind f2 "say_team Enemy in SNIPER NEST"
bind f3 "say_team Flag is safe"
bind F4 "say_team Enemy is in the water!"
bind F5 "say_team The threat is DEAD"
bind F6 "say_team Incoming RJ'ers through grate!"
bind F7 "saveme;say_team I need health/armor!"
bind F8 "say_team en route to intercept."
bind f9 "say_team Flag is going out"
bind f10 "say_team Unable to respond"
bind f11 "say_team Incoming MAIN entrance"

As with all binds, feel free to change them to your likings.

Look at the bind for F7, I used two commands at once, you can use more than one command in a bind if you use a ';' between them. This bind, I call for the medic and I let me teammates know "I" am requesting help. If you want to add your health and armor into the bind I will explain that in the advance section.
