This section is devoted to allowing a reader (you) to customize their TFC Models and Sprits. To give a little
background information: Models are the objects (backpacks, other players, weapons, grenades, flags, etc)
and Sprites are animimations or icons that you see in the game. You have the power to replace any models
or sprites that you wish.
A sweet converted Super Shotgun model to match the third-player model introduced when the new TFC models came out.
From the author:
"The Super Shotgun, carried by the medic, soldier, HW guy, engineer and spy class in TFC. I keeped the original TFC arms to make it blend better with the other TFC weapons and to keep the polycount down.
From the author:
"Heres a v_tfc_rpg.mdl that I reskinned, using the skin from the p_rpg.mdl. I
always noticed the difference between the two models and thought something
should be done about it. So I did my best to make the v_tfc_rpg.mdl look
more like the p_rpg.mdl."
Place in your /half-life/tfc/models/ directory to use.
Update: Valve now uses this model as the default in TFC.
A popular replacement chaingun model for the
Heavy Weapons Guy. As you can see, this model replaces the first person chaingun model to look like the chaingun
seen in third person (when you are looking at a HWGuy). Thanks for the screenshot
and information, -KoB-Havoc!
New Models Vs. Old Models
If you prefer the old Team Fortress models and animations, add "tfc_newmodels 0" (without quotes) to your config
(see our Config Guide on how to do that), and "tfc_newmodels 1" (without quotes) will turn the new
models back on.
Golden Models Penguin has made a popular "golden models" version of many TFC models that you can
replace, then mix and match to your liking. The most popular by far is the Golden Spanner, be sure
to check it out.
PK PAK PlayingKarrde's PK PAK is a unique collection of new models, weapons, sounds and sprites to TFC. Head
on over to his site to see screenshots, more information, and download.
More Custom Models? TF Stuff: TFC has a variety of model replacements (additionally,
sound files and sprites). While it is no longer updated, some good stuff is still easily found there. Also,
Custom-TFC has a few good replacement models if you are looking for a change of pace for various weapon
models.
Sprites
Lazerdots
The PKPAK has always carried the very popular Sniper Lazer dot replacement sprites.
Put in a smiley face, change the colors around, and more.
Check out the Lazerdots Page for instructions and downloads.
Death Sprites
aXon (of Pixel Maps created a sprite file that completes the lack of Death Icons in
Team Fortress. This pack will let you know when a person dies of drowning, falling, bioweapons, and more
that were previously only represented by a jolly-roger icon. Download: Death Sprites.
More Sprites?
Be sure to check out our Modding TFC Section to take full advantage of sprite customization
(we off tutorials and pre-made downloads of new HUDs, Icons, and more).
TF Stuff: TFC hosted here at PlanetFortress offers many models, sounds
and sprites, as well. Also, Custom-TFC offers models and sprite customizations
as well.
