PlanetFortress' Survival Map Pack Series: Selecting the Maps

Selection Process

Currently, the map selection process goes through varying stages. Usually, polls on PlanetFortress, and the forums are taken at random to get feedback on what maps people are really getting into. Map review sites (and the reviewers themselves), the knowledge of veteran TF players and mappers are consulted for futher feedback.

As that progresses, the list is narrowed down little by little until it is a manageable size. The reasons varry, but the aim is to have the best of the best when we are finished. Then, the testing begins to find any bugs and see if the authors can fix them. If there is a bug that cannot be fixed, the map is removed from the listing (it can be added in the future if the bug is fixed). The list is then reevaluated and the best of the best are selected to be included in the Survival Pack (while keeping the pack a manageable size). Feedback from the public is always taken into account. Finally, the maps are given the go ahead (and authors permission is obtained) and we have a new addition to the Survival Pack Series. Simple.

Do you think a certain map didn't get in that should have? A new Survival Pack will arrive every two months or so depending on what's out there. Future packs will depend on the maps themselves, but we are making plans for a "gimmick" map pack of maps with crazy goals (TFCBorder, Pull, Basketball, Bowling, etc).

Update: Once our Level of the Week Feature starts up, maps featured there will get an automatic nomination, it doesn't mean a whole lot, because they can be removed just as easily as any other maps, and maps not in the lotw can still get in. The only difference is they have an easier time being nominated (though the LotW selection is picky as well, so it's about the same). Current Survival Packs
